De Kwakel ist ein Dorf in der Gemeinde Uithoorn, im Süden der niederländischen Provinz Nordholland, nahe der Grenze zu Südholland. Das Dorf hat 4.480 Einwohner. De Kwakel wird von Uithoorn, Kudelstaart und Aalsmeer umgeben. Der historische Name von De Kwakel ist Quackel. Die Geschichte der Kwakel begann im Jahr 1000 infolge der Erschließung der holländischen Moorgebiete. Von Sticht zogen Bauern in das Moorgebiet, um die bewaldeten Sümpfe in Ackerland umzuwandeln und sich selbst ein neues Dasein aufzubauen. Damit brachten sie dieses Gebiet unter die Kontrolle des Stichts Utrecht. Das Land rund um den Torfstrom die Drecht, von Uithoorn, Amstel, war eines der ersten Stücke Land, das man begann zu urbar zu machen.
