Das Solsche Gat ist ein sogenannter Lehmbereich, in dem Veluwe-Bauern Lehm abgruben. Unten im Loch hat sich ein sumpfiges Gelände mit einem Tümpel gebildet. Auf dem morastigen Boden hat sich eine für die Veluwe besondere Pflanzenwelt entwickelt. So wachsen hier Wasserdreißigblatt, schlanker Schlüsselblume und Waldanemone. Für das Wild in diesem Teil der Veluwe bildet der Tümpel einen Tränkeplatz. Amphibien wie kleine Wasser salamander und Kröten vermehren sich in dem sumpfigen Gebiet. Da eine Austrocknung des Solsche Gat drohte, hat das Staatsbosbeheer 2002 die Grube wiederhergestellt.
