Das Beekhuizerzand ist ein einzigartiges Dünengebiet in der Nord-Veluwe mit einer Fläche von etwa 200 Hektar. Das Naturschutzgebiet ist hügelig, sehr offen mit einigen Kiefern. An den Rändern des Sandgebiets befinden sich Wälder, in denen die Kiefer am häufigsten vorkommt. Extreme Temperaturschwankungen in der Region sorgen dafür, dass Flora und Fauna sehr spezifisch sind.
Flora & Fauna
Flechten und der Sandwaran sind typische Arten für die Dünen. Bei den Vögeln sind der seltene Dünenpieper und die Nachtigal manchmal zu sehen. Außerdem kommen unter anderem die Baulärche, die Feldlerche, der Gelbbülter, der Baumpieper, die Kohlmeise und der Haubenlerche vor.
