El Beekhuizerzand es una área única de arenas movedizas en el Norte de Veluwe, con un tamaño de aproximadamente 200 hectáreas. El área natural es ondulada, muy abierta con algunos pinos voladores. En los bordes del área arenosa se encuentran bosques donde el pino silvestre es el más común. Las diferencias extremas de temperatura en el área hacen que la flora y la fauna sean muy específicas.
Flora & Fauna
Los líquenes y las lagartijas de arena son especies típicas de las arenas movedizas. En cuanto a las aves, el raro alondra de la playa y el murmullo nocturno a veces se pueden ver. Además, se pueden encontrar, entre otros, el ala de bosque, el ala de campo, el gorrion amarillo, el paño de bosque, el carbonero negro y el ala de cresta.
