Der Kerker 'Cachot' van Appelscha wurde 1921 gebaut, ein „Aufenthaltsort“ für Trunkenbolde und Unruhestifter. Der Kerker verfügt über zwei Zellen, eine für männliche und eine für weibliche Gefangene. Der Standort wurde vom Feldwächter bestimmt.
Der Historische Verein Appelscha verwaltet den Kerker und hat ihn restaurieren lassen. Soweit bekannt, ist dies der einzige verbliebene in Friesland. In den Sommermonaten kann der Innenraum durch die Glastüren besichtigt werden.
