Le Cachot d'Appelscha a été construit en 1921. Un "lieu de détention" pour les personnes ivres et mal comportées. Le Cachot possède 2 cellules, une pour les hommes et une pour les femmes. L'emplacement a été déterminé par le garde champêtre.
L'Association historique d'Appelscha gère le cachot et a fait restaurer celui-ci. À ce qu'il semble, c'est le seul lieu de détention restant en Frise. Pendant les mois d'été, l'intérieur peut être visité à travers les portes en verre.
