Het Cachot van Appelscha werd in 1921 gebouwd. Een "bewaarplaats" voor dronken en zich misdragende mensen. Het Cachot heeft 2 cellen, één voor manneljike en één voor vrouwelijke gevangenen. De locatie werd bepaald door de veldwachter.
De Historische vereniging Appelscha beheert het cachot en heeft deze laten restaureren. Voor zover bekend is dit de enige overgebleven bewaarplaats die in Friesland. Tijdens de zomermaanden is het interieur te bezichtigen door de glazen deuren.
