In Waterdunen kommt alles zusammen: salzige Gezeiten-Natur, Freizeit, Küstenschutz und ein Versuchsgarten für salzige Kulturen. Dieses wunderschöne Naturschutzgebiet wurde 2022 eröffnet und befindet sich weiterhin in voller Entwicklung. Trotz der Tatsache, dass das Gebiet gerade erst eröffnet wurde, sieht man hier bereits große Mengen an Vögeln und Pflanzen. Die salzige Natur in Waterdunen hat sich schnell entwickelt. Während deines Spaziergangs triffst du auf verschiedene Vogelbeobachtungshütten und Sichtschirme. Von diesen Vogelhütten aus kannst du die Vögel aus nächster Nähe beobachten, ohne dass sie dich sehen. Der Name Waterdunen bezieht sich auf das gleichnamige Dorf und die Insel, die im 14. Jahrhundert während einer Sturmflut verschlungen wurde.
