En Waterdunen todo se junta: naturaleza de mareas salinas, recreación, defensa costera y un jardín de pruebas para cultivos salinos. Esta hermosa área natural se abrió en 2022 y todavía está en pleno desarrollo. A pesar de que el área acaba de abrirse, ya puedes ver aquí grandes cantidades de aves y plantas. La naturaleza salina en Waterdunen se ha desarrollado rápidamente. Durante tu caminata te encontrarás con diferentes refugios de observación de aves y pantallas de observación. Desde estos refugios de aves puedes observarlas de cerca sin que te vean. El nombre Waterdunen se refiere al pueblo y la isla del mismo nombre que fueron tragados por una tormenta en el siglo XIV.
