Im Jahr 1859 wurde vom Orden der Fratres von Tilburg in Grave das Blindeninstitut Sint Henricus gegründet. Die Blinden erhielten Unterricht und stellten Körbe, Besen und Bürsten her. Aufgrund des großen Andrangs an Blinden musste das Institut ständig erweitert werden und es gab permanent Geldmangel. Für blinde Mädchen wurde 1882 an der Oliestraat De Wijnberg von den Zusters van Liefde aus Tilburg gegründet. 1966 zog De Wijnberg in die St. Elisabethstraße um. Die Schwestern verließen 1980 das Kloster, die Bildung war zu diesem Zeitpunkt bereits von einer Stiftung übernommen worden. 1982 wurde auch die Blindenpflege vollständig übernommen.
