Die Ruine von Strijen ist das einzige Überbleibsel der Burg Strijen, die aus dem Jahr 1288 stammt. Die Burg war von Gräben umgeben und hatte drei Stockwerke, der dazugehörige Turm hatte sogar sechs. Ein anderer Name für die Burg ist der Slotbosser Turm, benannt nach dem Eichenwald, der früher die Burg umgab.
Die Burg wurde im sechzehnten Jahrhundert während des Achtzigjährigen Krieges zerstört und nie wiederhergestellt. Heute kann man nur noch eine Ecke des 25 Meter hohen Turms sehen. Der Rest der Burg wurde im achtzehnten Jahrhundert abgerissen und von den Oosterhoutern als Steinbruch genutzt. Trotzdem ist die beeindruckende Ruine einen Besuch wert, ob allein oder kombiniert mit einem schönen Spaziergang in der Nähe.
