Im 17. Jahrhundert wurde der Lek auf der Strecke Utrecht-Gorinchem mit einer Fähre zwischen Nieuwegein und Vianen überquert, wie dieser Druck von Abraham Rademaker aus dem Jahr 1630 zeigt. Damals gab es noch keine Brücke.
Fußgänger und Radfahrer können weiterhin mit der Fähre übersetzen. Bitte beachten Sie die Fahrzeiten: Montag bis Freitag von 07:00 bis 18:00 Uhr, samstags, sonntags und feiertags von 10:00 bis 18:00 Uhr. Vom 1. November bis 1. April fährt die Fähre sonntags und in den Weihnachtsferien nicht. Von Christi Himmelfahrt bis 31. August fährt die Fähre freitags, samstags, sonntags und feiertags bis 20:30 Uhr. Radfahrer zahlen an Bord ein Ticket für 1,50 €: nur mit EC-Karte!
Wenn die Fähre nicht fährt, können Sie den Lek über die nahe gelegene A2-Brücke überqueren.
