Die Nybrua-Brücke, die 1827 erbaut wurde, liegt im Stadtteil Grünerløkka. Sie wird von der Storgata überquert, die auf der östlichen Seite des Flusses als Trondheimsveien weiterführt. Zur gleichen Zeit wurde die Storgata verlängert und der untere Teil der Trondheimsveien geschaffen.
Als Osls wichtigster Zugangspunkt von Norden wurde sie Teil der Trondhjemske hovedvei, die an der Nybrua beginnt und bis zur Stadtgrenze in Vestli führt.
Später wurden auch die Vaterland-Brücke sowie die Straßen Brugata und Lakkegata in die Route aufgenommen, nördlich der Stadt. Die Nybrua wurde später erweitert und verstärkt, um Straßenbahnen und modernen motorisierten Verkehr aufzunehmen, obwohl Teile der ursprünglichen Struktur noch zu sehen sind.
