Der Damm ist tatsächlich ein großes Bewässerungsprojekt, das 1989 von König Bhumibol Adulyadej initiiert wurde. Das Wasserspeicherbecken ist eine Wasserquelle für Haushalte, Fabriken und Bauernhöfe im Pasak-Tal; und ein Puffer zur Kontrolle von Überschwemmungen im Pa Sak-Becken und zur Verringerung der Probleme der Wasserbewirtschaftung in den unteren Provinzen und im Ballungsraum Bangkok. Die Speicherung von Wasser im Reservoir begann am 15. Juni 1998 und die Einweihung des Pasak - Jolasit Projekts fand am 25. November 1999 statt. Das gesamte Gebiet ist jetzt eine wichtige Touristenattraktion.
