Aksaray ist eine zentralanatolische Stadt in der Türkei und Hauptstadt der Provinz Aksaray. Aksaray liegt in der Hochebene von Konya, nahe dem größten Salzsee der Türkei und dem schneebedeckten 3268 m hohen Hasan Dağı. Die Stadt umfasst etwa 54 % der Provinz- und 75 % der aktuellen Landkreisbevölkerung.
Die Stadt ist auch der Verwaltungssitz des gleichnamigen Landkreises im Zentrum der Provinz. Er ist der flächenmäßig größte und bevölkerungsreichste Landkreis in der Provinz. Neben der Kreisstadt gibt es acht weitere Städte : Bağlıkaya , Helvadere , Sağlık , Taşpınar , Topakkaya , Yenikent , Yeşilova und Yeşiltepe .
