Kabul was once the centre of Zoroastrianism, a religion and philosophy based on the teaching of the prophet Zoroaster. Monotheism (believing there is only one god and not many gods or godesses) was one of the pilars of Zoroastranism, a concept which got spread in many religions to follow. It was spread along the Silk Road and its influences reached as far as the Cathars in France and the Bogomils in the Balkan.
One of the main ideas of Zoroastianism was the battle between good and evil, and that there would be salvation through knowledge.
