Scenic Bavaria Route

Easy roadbike ride leading from Tirol over the German border to Bavaria. This 85km route starts in Kufstein and leads past the Thiersee lake via Bäckeralpe to Bayrischzell. After passing Fischbach and Bad Feilnbach, riders return to Austrian soil and descend to Nußdorf. From here it is an easy ride back along the Inn river to Kufstein. The route takes riders around the Wendelstein – the mountain overlooking Kufstein – on a series of pretty back roads. The only serious climb is to Bäckeralpe (400 vertical metres of ascent), which requires good fitness and motivation. Among the highlights are fine views of Thiersee lake and a series of traditional inns dotted along the Inn Cycle Path.
From the starting point in Kufstein, the route leads for a short section up-river and crosses the Inn river at the first opportunity. It then takes riders under the Inntal-Autobahn motorway and leaves Kufstein in a westerly direction heading towards Morsbach.
