From Vienna to Hainburg an der Donau

The bike tour starts in Vienna along the Danube bank to OMV, where it crosses the area. The path then follows the Hubertus Dam through the floodplain area of the Danube-Auen National Park. At Schönau, the bike path curves over the Schönauer Traverse. The narrow Schönauer floodplain forest strip is one of the most dynamic areas of the national park. From the outer Schönauer Traverse, there are impressive views of the Kühwörther water with its large reed beds. Continuing on the Danube bike path over the Hubertus Dam, it is a long straight stretch lined with large meadow areas, floodplain forest, and old river arms. At the Andreas Maurer Bridge, the route turns right and leads over the bridge to the other side of the Danube to Hainburg. The bike tour ends at the Hainburg train station, from where the S7 train allows for the return journey to Vienna.
