North Stradbroke Island in Brisbane?s Moreton Bay is the second largest sand island in the world. the largest being Fraser Island, further north off Queensland?s Fraser Coast. North Stradbroke was once significantly larger than it currently is but a storm in 1896 split Stradbroke Island into what are now known as North and South Stradbroke Islands, separated by Jumpinpin Channel.
