Gundaroo is an idyllic historic town providing an important example of a 19th Century Australian village. Located just 35kms from Canberra, it is a popular tourist attraction and a rewarding end to an enjoyable ride. The village lies in the Yass River valley on gently rolling countryside and is surrounded by distant wooded hills. The main street is mostly preserved in its original character, and the town contains all the elements typical of a township from last century ? such as a hotel, a general store-post-office, a common, a park and three churches.
