You are constantly reminded of the tragic bushfires of 2009 on this ride. Despite the devastation both Marysville and Lake Mountain resort are sufficiently re-developed to provide welcoming start and finish points and the beauty of the country you ride through remains. The beautiful surrounds, the challenge of the climb and its proximity to Melbourne make this a ride worth considering. As with any alpine climb go prepared for colder conditions at the top and for the return downhill and carry enough food and drink.
