Hakari River is the left tributary of the Araz in Azerbaijan. The river is 128 kilometres long and flows through Qubadli District and Zangilan District. Several populated places are along the river, like Aganli , Alibayli , Mammadbayli and Yenikend .
The elevation difference between the source and mouth is 2,812 metres . The river's water is used for irrigation and drinking. Fishes like trout and Arctic cisco spawn in this river.
Qubadli and Zangilan districts were occupied by Armenian forces during the First Nagorno-Karabakh war, including the Hakari river and was made part of the Kashatagh Province of the self-proclaimed Republic of Artsakh, referred to as Akari (Armenian: Հակարի. Both of the districts were recaptured by Azerbaijan during the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh war, returning the river to Azerbaijani control.
