Cyriel Buysse was born here in a wealthy family of industrialists. The castle domain formed the social and geographical inspiration for the contrast between nobility and peasants in Het gezin Van Paemel. Kasteel Ter Leie, better known as Kasteel van Nevele at Cyriel Buyssestraat 6A–F in Nevele (part of Deinze), is still present, but no longer in its original form and is no longer a castle in the traditional sense.
