Many peace courts in the countryside disappeared and were concentrated in urban areas. As a result, Ghent became the seat of seven peace courts, which is four more than before(25). They found shelter in the small courthouse, in the space of the simultaneously abolished Labor Courts in First Instance and in Appeal. In their place came the Labor Court and the Labor Court of Appeal. The Labor Court could rightly be situated in the building on Kalandeberg. The services of the Labor Court of Appeal were installed in the office building at the corner of Kouter and Zonnestraat, while the hearings took place in the rooms of the Court of Appeal.
