Arsène Goedertier suffers a stroke on a November evening in 1934, a few months after the theft of the Just Judges and just after the bankruptcy of the Congolese company "Plantexel," of which he was a co-founder, in the banquet hall of the Holy Virgin college in Dendermonde, where he was to give a speech as a politician of the Catholic party.
Just before his death, he told his friend, lawyer Georges De Vos, who was also present, that he was the only one who knew something about the missing Just Judges, but De Vos did not get any more details before Goedertier breathed his last.
