Unconventional contemporary, museum for contemporary art
Art lovers of contemporary art cannot miss the S.M.A.K. during their weekend in Ghent. The Municipal Museum for Contemporary Art, abbreviated S.M.A.K., was founded in 1999 and is located opposite the MSK in a former casino building. Dynamic and unconventional. The city of Ghent is headstrong and so is its museum for contemporary art. The permanent collection of national and international masterpieces is presented in a continuous interplay with original, often daring exhibitions. You can slowly recover from the many impressions in the museum café.
