Over the years, the castle Ryvische became the property of the family van den Bossche-de Meyere. This was the family of the writer Maurice Maeterlinck. Nathalie de Meyere, widow of François van den Bossche, was his maternal grandmother. Maeterlinck regularly stayed here during his childhood.
