On the facade of the Bond Moyson, you can also notice a rooster. There is a story going around that this was a gift from the Walloons because during a strike, the Ghent department of the union supposedly provided them with bread to survive during the strike. In some versions, it's Edward Anseele who once received the rooster as a gift from the Walloon metalworkers. However, that story turns out to be incorrect. When this imposing temple was rebuilt in 1899, it received an enormous Art Nouveau window in the facade, with a crowing rooster at the bottom announcing the new dawn. That "new dawn" for which the rooster crows refers to a new era where everyone would be equal and could lead a happy life.
