The Royal Theatre "De Munt" is located at a place where money was made. The first theater dates back from 1700. It is on this location the most famous opera in Belgian hirtosy was played: 'The mute of Portici', which was the trigger for the Belgian revolution agains the Dutch, leading to an independent state. Remarkably, the opera was given for the celebration of the Dutch King Willem I.
