Once, Montenau was the center of the gold rush. Gold nuggets and gold dust of pure nature have been found there in the past. No large gold veins, but still enough to keep a gold mine operating in the village until just before World War I. Sometimes, shiny materials are still fished out of the small streams of the Amel, so if you want to go panning, you can try your luck here. In the center, there is a factory with a smokehouse, and delicious scents of hams and sausages often spread over the village. Here, the "Original Ardenner Schinken" is made. Visiting and tasting this delicacy is possible.
