Since 1995, the building is no longer owned by the railways but in private hands. Since then it has been completely restored and modernized and insulated in a contemporary way. Together with the station in Sint-Joris-Weert, it is one of the 'green' stops along this railway line and provides direct walking access to the Zoet Water, Heverleebos and Meerdaalwoud, as well as to the Doode Bemde and the Oud-Heverlee Zuid en Noord nature reserve. It is one of the few station buildings in Flanders with a 'green' façade and 'green' platforms. Together with Heverlee station and Sint-Joris-Weert station, this railway line is one of the few places where three of these old types of stations remain. This is all the more remarkable because it is one of the busiest freight lines with train traffic between the port of Antwerp and France.
