The Church of the Assumption in the Belgian town of Winksele has square pillars and a tower in sandstone. The Romanesque nave was built simultaneously with the tower in the 12th century. The fortified west tower is typical of the parish churches of the Prince-Bishopric of Liège. In the middle of the 13th century a porch with a round arch door was built.
