Freÿr is the largest and highest climbing area in Belgium, located on the Meuse, about five kilometers upstream from Dinant. The rock structure is geologically a stratified limestone formation from the middle Jurassic period. This climbing massif boasts more than 600 routes in all styles and difficulty levels and is the largest and most important climbing massif in Belgium. The highest rock is 120 meters. The popularity of this massif is so great that the routes at the lower levels have been very heavily climbed. Internationally, the Rochers de Freyr are the most well-known. However, climbing these rocks is reserved for climbers who comply with the conditions set by the manager of these rocks. (UIAA membership) The GR routes 125 and 126 run along the Meuse and the rocks.
