The Quartier des Fleurs (Flower District) is a residential area of Schaerbeek where almost all the streets are named after flowers. The district boasts many Art Deco style houses, and the masterpiece is without doubt the Church of Saint Susanna, also in Art Deco style, the first Brussels church to be built entirely out of reinforced concrete. A certain René Magritte, a prestigious inhabitant of the district, took up residence at 97 rue des Mimosas from 1954 until his death in 1967.
