The Molenkreek is the northernmost creek of the Meetjesland, it is located in Sint-Margriete.Despite the long time that it has been since there was still a connection with the Westerschelde, there is still an increased salinity of it, both the water and the banks. This affects the vegetation. Connoisseurs recognize plants here that also occur in the Zwin, although there is no longer a connection with the sea here. The low water level, at times, also attracts waders. The Molenkreek was restored to its natural state in 2012 and is managed by Natuurpunt Meetjesland. The area is European protected as part of Natura 2000 area 'Polders'.
