The Sint-Maartensheide is part of the cross-border nature reserve Kempen-Broek. The Abeek flows through the nature reserve. Pay attention to the small-scale agricultural plots in the area, surrounded by hedgerows and bramble bushes. The Flemish Land Company and Natuurpunt are working on a reorganization of the nature reserve by linking ponds, marshes, and wet meadows.
