If you follow the N68 from Eupen to Baraque Michel and Malmedy, you will enter the Hertogenwoud shortly after leaving the last houses of the city behind you. Well, from the edge of this forest, at the sign with the crossed-out place name Eupen, to the place Heisterberg (in French: Hestreux) is still 5.3 km. Heisterberg - Heistert is originally a German word for beech - is the name of two forest ranger houses in the middle of the Hertogenwoud.
