Our Lady Church

The Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekerk is the church of the Onze-Lieve-Vrouwe parish of the Belgian village of Zevergem, a part of De Pinte. The church is located to the east of the village square, surrounded by the cemetery. Initially, there was a single-nave cruciform church, whose history dates back to the 12th century. From the 18th century onwards, significant modifications were made to the church. In 1768, a northern aisle was built, and the floor was raised. In 1773, restoration works were carried out on the church, the tower, and the choir. Between 1852 and 1855, a southern aisle was added, identical to the existing northern aisle. The crossing tower of the church was demolished, and the church was extended one bay to the west with a built-in square western tower. The choir and the sacristy were preserved but were raised and expanded. A second sacristy dates from 1860. After significant damage during World War I, the church was restored in 1922.
