The Langdonken is located in the transition area between the 'poor' sandy soils of the Kempen and the 'rich' Hageland. The area is located in the valley of the Kalsterloop. This river partly forms the border between the provinces of Antwerp and Brabant. The soil map of the Langdonken shows us that all soil types of the Kempen occur there. You will find white sand, loamy sand, sandy loam, loam and clay. So there is a lot of variety in the Langdonken. There are both alder marshes and heaths, but also hay meadows, willow thickets, forests, fields and hedgerows.
