In the 20s, Etikhove was an artists' village around Valerius De Saedeleer. He lived in the villa "Tynlon" until 1937. Valerius De Saedeleer was a Flemish painter of landscapes. He is buried in the municipal cemetery of Aalst. De Saedeleer received his first artistic training at the Ghent Academy of Fine Arts of Théodore-Joseph Canneel. He mainly painted the Lys region and the Flemish Ardennes and was one of the most important figures of the first group of the Latem School. Valerius De Saedeleer lived from November 1895 to October 1898 in Lissewege, in a small farm along the Ter Doeststraat. From 1898 to 1908 he lived in Sint-Martens-Latem. The Lys bend there is the subject of some of his paintings. He then moved to the villa "Tynlon" in Etikhove, where an artists' colony with him as a central figure was located. He left that house in 1937.
