In the south of the province of East Flanders, 34 km of cobblestone strips are protected heritage. The cobblestones have an industrial-archaeological value and are often located in the beautiful sunken roads. These sunken roads are home to a wide variety of flora and fauna.
A number of well-known examples of these cobblestone sections from the Flemish Cycling Classics are the Paterberg, the Eikenberg, the Muur, the Molenberg, the Taaieberg, the Koppenberg and the Bosberg.
