The Kraenepoel, sometimes referred to as Kraenepoelvijver or Kraenepoelmeer, is a pond of 22 ha surrounded by forests, located in the municipality of Aalter.
During frost periods, it often happens that the Kraenepoel partially or completely freezes over. Because the Kraenepoel is relatively shallow, it is usually one of the first ponds in the area where skating on the ice can take place.
