This former "Goed ten Abeele" was once owned by the Ghent St. Peter's Abbey. She gave it on loan to, among others, the Ghent patrician Geraard de Duivel. In the 18th century it was inhabited by noble families including the De Giey family, who still inhabit it. Between 1850 and 1860 it got its neo-classicist style. The entrance gates bear the coat of arms and the telling family slogan: Qui s'y frotte, s'y pique. Grand Noble is, next to Scheldevelde and De Ghellinck, the third forest core of the Parkbos.
