The Sint-Pieterskerk is the parish church of the village of Gijverinkhove, which belongs to the West Flanders municipality of Alveringem, located on Bellestraat.
Initially, a Romanesque church building was likely established that did not include a tower or a transept. Presumably at the end of the 13th century, an early Gothic tower was built in the middle of the building. Significant modifications took place in 1540, particularly regarding the tower. In 1913, the church was altered according to the design of Alfons de Pauw, broadening the side aisles. At that time, the transept was also realized, and a sacristy was added in Flemish Neo-Renaissance style.
