The St. Martin's Church is the parish church of the village of Oeselgem, which is part of the West Flanders municipality of Dentergem, located on the Church Square.
The foundation of the parish likely dates back to the end of the Carolingian period, but it was first mentioned in writing in 1362. In 1455, mention was made of both the church building and the pastor. A three-nave Gothic church with a crossing tower was built. In 1692, it was noted that the church was in a dilapidated state. In 1695, the church was robbed, losing all its church treasures.
