Saint Servatius refers to the parish church and Saint Peter and Paul to the abbey church.
Church built from white sandstone between 1660-80. That was the glorious time of the abbey (founded around 1125). The tower with 48 bells offers a lovely view of the surroundings.
Remarkably large choir in relation to the rest of the church. The nave remained unfinished, which is evident from the temporary façade.
Inside, the sculpturally shaped walls stand out. Combined with four magnificent confessionals, the pulpit, choir stalls, altar, and the tomb of the Count of Grimbergen, this creates one of the most beautiful baroque ensembles in the country.
In the choir, one can admire four paintings of Saint Norbert by Jan van Orley. Also, numerous works by De Craeyer, van Orley, and van Loon can be found elsewhere.
