The presbytery of the Loppemse Sint-Martinusparochie is the result of two construction phases. The ground floor was built in 1757 under pastor Elias Verdick. In 1857, exactly 100 years later, pastor Petrus Vande Maele had the first floor built. The older rectory, located on the site of the castle of Caloen, was sold at the time of father Verdick to jonker Pieter-Clement de Potter, who turned it into a castle estate.
