The Ruien Power Plant is a former thermal coal power plant. It was located on the right bank of the Scheldt, in the district of Ruien, East Flanders, Belgium.
The plant was built in 1958 and for a long time was the main and largest electric and thermal power plant in Belgium. It was owned by Electrabel, part of the Engie group. Coal was the main fuel, but natural gas, olive pits, wood chips, and untreated wood waste were also burned to produce electricity.
