This museum houses dozens of works by one of the most prominent Flemish expressionist artists. The collection spans the period 1915 - 1943. There are 34 works from the Smets Deurlese period on display, including The Village Sun from 1928. The Museum Gust De Smet is a bequest from the painter's widow to the municipality of Deurle. It is the artist's home and studio, where he lived and worked from 1935 to 1943.
