The current courthouse was designed and built between 1923 and 1927 by architect Vaerwijck. On the façade we notice the coats of arms of the various canton capitals. A kiosk was built on the fifty-meter-high tower, decorated all around with copper columns, with gilded owls, symbol of wisdom.
On the spire is the Ros Beiaard with the four Heemskinderen, who have thus returned to the place where the castle of their father, Lord Aymon, once stood.
The courthouse, located in the heart of Dendermonde, with its strict character is a monumental and dominant factor within the cityscape. When you enter Dendermonde along various access roads, this monument already towers over the city from a distance.
Guided tours are not possible in the courthouse.
